Small Website Tweaks That Can Boost Your Yoga Business on Google

I work on Yoga & Pilates websites every single day, and I see the same things popping up time and time again. These aren’t "mistakes" I completely understand why people do them……but if you’re looking to improve your visibility on Google, a few small tweaks can make a huge difference. I initially wrote this as an Instagram post but I decided it needed a bit more attention!

One of the Biggest Website Issues I See

Let’s talk about one super common example: how you name your pages.

If you’ve got a page describing your classes or services, you might have called it something generic like “My Services” or just “Classes.” While this might make sense to you, it’s not very helpful for Google — or for potential clients searching online.

Now there’s two three main places you might write this. The Heading 1 - this is what you can see on the image above. The big heading on your page. But it’s not just about size it’s also telling Google these are the most significant words on this page.

The second place is the Page Title and the third is the Navigation Title.

Think Like Your Ideal Student (and Like Google!)

When people search online, they typically use a What + Where formula. They’re looking for something specific in a specific place, like:

  • Yoga classes in Navarre

  • Pregnancy yoga in Velaris

  • Reformer Pilates in Rohan

If your page title is too vague, Google has to work harder to understand what you offer — and it might not rank your website as high in search results. A clearer title helps both search engines and potential students find you more easily.

Small Change, Big Impact: How to Optimise Your Page Titles

Instead of generic words, make your page titles more specific and keyword-friendly. Here’s how:

Instead of:

Classes
My Services
Offerings

Try:

Vinyasa Yoga Classes in Exeter
Pregnancy Yoga in Bristol – Gentle, Supportive Sessions
1:1 Pilates in Edinburgh – Private Lessons for Strength & Mobility

By making this one small tweak, you’re giving Google (and your visitors) a much clearer picture of what you offer.

This is such an easy change.

We are talking about changing your Heading 1, Page Title and Meta Description.

Why Every Page Needs to Stand Alone

Another common issue I see? Websites that assume visitors will land on the homepage first. But in reality, that’s not always how people find you. In fact, if you’re doing mindful SEO, they SHOULD be landing on the specific page that meets their needs. Remember, good SEO targets one keyword phrase per page. There is ZERO point trying to hit everything on your homepage. One Keyword phrase per service page. This is what you need. Teach pregnancy yoga? The Google search results should be showing prospective customers your pregnancy focused page.

Many potential clients will land directly on a class page, a blog post, or even your contact page via Google. That’s why every page needs to clearly answer the big questions:

  • Who are you? (Briefly introduce yourself if needed)

  • What do you offer? (Make it clear what this page is about)

  • Where are you based? (Add your location for local SEO)

  • What should they do next? (Make it easy for them to book, contact you, or browse more)

A good rule of thumb: If someone landed on any page of your site for the first time, would they know what to do next? If not, adding clear call-to-action buttons or internal links can help.

The Power of Internal Links

Speaking of links, another simple but effective SEO trick is internal linking. This means linking between different pages on your website, making it easier for both visitors and search engines to navigate.

For example:

  • On your Classes page, link to your About page so people can learn more about you.

  • On a blog post about yoga for back pain, link to your 1:1 Yoga for Back Pain class.

  • On your events page, link to your Booking page so people can sign up easily.

Internal linking not only helps with SEO but also keeps visitors engaged with your content longer.

Final Thoughts

SEO doesn’t have to be overwhelming, and you don’t need to completely overhaul your website to see results. Small, intentional changes—like renaming your pages, making each page clear and informative, and linking your content together—can have a big impact on how easily students find you online.
